What is LOGOS?
We are a baptist church that teaches expositionally from the Bible and holds reformed theological convictions.
Our Mission
We exist to glorify God and make disciples of Jesus in the city of Brownsville, the Rio Grande Valley, and the world.
Our Vision
We want to be a Biblical and faithful church that preaches the gospel and makes disciples.
Our Values
Biblical Authority | See Ephesians 1:20-23
The Church belongs to Jesus. He alone reigns over it. All questions in the church are to be answered with The Scriptures that He inspired to be written through The Holy Spirit by the Apostles and OT Prophets.Biblical Servant Leadership | See Hebrews 13:17-18 and 1 Timothy 3:1-13
Jesus is The Good Shepherd. To care for His Church, Jesus has appointed under-shepherds. Men who are to faithfully lead and serve the local church. These men must meet rigorous Biblical qualifications.Biblical Theology | See Ephesians 2:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 2:1-5
Theology means “the knowledge of God”. The Church must agree with God’s revelation of Himself: The Trinitarian God who alone saves sinners. The more we know God’s Word, the more we will love God.Biblical Preaching and Teaching | See Acts 2:42a and 2 Timothy 4:1-5T
To “preach” means to publicly, boldly, persuasively, and unapologetically tell the truth that demands a response. To “teach” means to instruct, make hard things easy to understand, or to disciple in a more formal setting. The Church must do these things with The Scriptures as the foundation and authority.Biblical Praise & Worship | See Colossians 3:16 and Psalm 100
The songs we sing in the church gathering must be filled with the truth revealed to us in the Bible. We worship with not only our hearts and talents, but also with our understanding. Jesus commanded two acts that are to be kept by every Biblical church: Believer’s Baptism and The Lord’s Supper.Biblical Fellowship | See Acts 2:46-47 and Hebrews 10:24-25
Gathering together is vital. When we gather regularly in Christian harmony and with a spirit of kindness, we pray for, encourage, correct, and teach one another. We need to gather to grow. We are one body.Biblical Giving | See 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
More than numerical amounts, God is concerned with the heart and intention of the giver. Giving disciplines us, helps us depend on God for provision, and pleases God who owns all things.Biblical Evangelism | See Romans 10:9-17
When we share the Good News, we must make sure to talk about sin, Jesus’ life - death - burial - resurrection, and invite the person to turn from their sins, and put their faith in Jesus as God & Savior.Biblical Church Discipline | See Matthew 18:15-20, 1 Corinthians 5 & 2 Corinthians 2:5-11
Because the Church is made up of forgiven sinners, there will undoubtedly be times when new, or longtime, Christians sin. When this happens, the Church must act with a spirit of generosity and with the mission of restoring the person who has sinned. Church discipline helps keep things in their place: respect for God, and rejection of sin. Often Church discipline will end with the first conversation between a person and their brother in sin. In some rare times, it may end with the unrepentant sinner leaving the Church to ensure that the rest are not tempted to sin, and that sin is not excused.
